Music History
A student of violin and guitar, Mary played in high school Chamber and toured Manhattan playing, "Phantom of the Opera". Chamber Choir ensued the following year. Electric guitar lessons continued and in 1990, her first album was complete, and by college 3 more amateur records were recorded.
While at Texas A&M, Mary Shana DJ'd KANM FM's Saturday radio show, Psychogenic Fugue, and performed original guitar songs at campus coffee houses. She became friends with and performed with the grandson of the late Medal of Honor U.S. Air Force General James Doolittle.
Later, a chance meeting with local artist William Shostak (Glue Records, Japan) at University of Michigan's WCBN , Brendan Gillen's(BMG) radio show, "Crush Collision," led to learning how to make techno. She co-produced a project, and managed Glue for a year. In 1995, she earned second recording engineering certification at the Recording Institute of Detroit and did studio work under recording engineer, John Vitale (Sponge, Republica). She was assistant engineer and created sounds for a Carl Carlton re-mix at the Harmonie Park Creative Group studios in Detroit. Later, she briefly worked on 3 of her tracks with the legendary Carl Craig of Planet E.
At University of Michigan-Dearborn's WUMD radio, Mary DJ's another show, Interstellar Underground. A 2001 internship under renown promotions exec. Brent Battles with Reprise Records/Warner Elektra Atlantic provided a solid understanding of the music industry. That year, Mary, Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), and other record promo managers judged bands at MGD's "Battle to the Bermuda Triangle" at Hayloft Liquor Stand.
Currently, Mary produces music projects.
